But it wasn’t always like that. It’s hard to believe, but throughout high school and college Vince was nicknamed
‘Skinny Vinny’ due to his scrawny chest and stick-like arms and legs. Getting to where he is today was not easy for
this hard-gaining Italian kid.
The Early Years
Vince DelMonte is Canadian, and was born in 1979. During his high school years he was very skinny, and this
damaged his confidence – particularly when classmates gave him the Skinny Vinny tag. Later in his high school years
he began competing in endurance sports such as running and triathlon; sports where his naturally lean frame was an
advantage. Despite his success, like any teenage boy Vince still craved the bigger, more muscular body that you
need to get the attention of the prettiest girls in school.
After graduating from high school, Vince went to college, where he took a degree in Kinesiology (Health
Sciences) at the University of Western Ontario. He learnt about health and the physiology of the human body, but
remained a 149-pound weakling, due in part to continuing his ongoing dedication to competitive running. While he
continued to succeed in this, the desire to get big and strong never went away.
From Zero to Hero
After graduating from college, Vince had to decide what direction to take his career, and he decided to become a
personal trainer. But he realized that in order to make it as a fitness professional, he needed to make his body an
advertisement for his services. Besides this, he still craved a body capable of turning heads, and wanted to test
whether the discipline he had subjected himself to for years as a runner could translate to the gym, and get him
the muscles he dreamed of.
Vince began his weight training in the time-honored tradition of every skinny guy who wants to get big: by
following every piece of advice he could get his hands on, and by swallowing every supplement the bodybuilding
industry had to offer. This approach worked to an extent, and after six months he had achieved some results. But as
time went on, as well as building bigger muscles he also began to get a belly. Yes, he had become the dreaded
‘skinny fat guy’!
It was after a couple of years of coasting like this that Vince realized he needed to step up and train smarter
in order to get to the next level. He worked hard, and after just 12 weeks he had finally achieved the body of his
dreams. To prove how far he had come he entered the world of competitive fitness modeling and became the Canadian
Fitness Model Champion in just his third show. His transformation story caught the eye of International fitness
magazine Maximum Fitness, and they featured it in a 2 page spread.
Today
The Vince DelMonte of today is the author of leading muscle gain programs such as ‘No Nonsense Muscle Building:
Skinny Guy Secrets To Insane Muscle Gain,’ and ‘Your Six Pack Quest.’ Vince is hailed by naturally skinny guys the
world over as a hero, and his products have over 20,000 satisfied customers in more than 100 countries. He still
works as a (much in-demand) personal trainer; he contributes to Men’s Fitness Magazine on a regular basis, and he’s
on the Advisory Team for Maximum Fitness Magazine.
What makes the Vince DelMonte story special is that he isn’t one of the guys who were blessed with a naturally
athletic body that stacks on muscle with ease. Like his customers, the odds were against him, and yet he was still
able to achieve his goals. This is what makes his advice so valuable to his clients everywhere.
